~ A WHIRLWIND ~

As many of you know, Dad was diagnosed with stage IV kidney cancer on April 28th. LONG, LONG story short - On May 25th he had his kidney and lymph nodes removed thru a huge surgery at MD Anderson in Houston. Needless to say it has been a very hard month and a half. He is currently staying with us while he recovers and we are all taking this situation one day at a time the best we can.

It has been a long time since I have updated the blog so instead of doing a bunch of posts I am gonna just slama-lama the pictures below!!

Aunt K took some GREAT pictures of us before Dad's surgery!

Miss B was all excited when we told her Dad would be coming to our house to recover. Dad found these amazing scrubs for both the girls. They wore them to the hospital and they were such a hit with all the doctors and nurses...toooo cute!!! B also filled Dad's hospital room wall with art she had been working on for a couple of weeks. SEE - She CAN be sweet when she wants to be...hahaha

J and the girls came down to Houston a couple days after the rest of Dad's entourage!
Since Dad was doing OK, we took a little time away from the hospital and headed to Galveston so both the girls could experience the beach for the FIRST time. B wasn't too into it, but lil Miss L was all about it!!!

We also visited Houston's aquarium. It was pretty awesome and out back they had a train ride, carousel, and Ferris Wheel. So B and L experienced their first Ferris Wheel ride and in addition L experienced her first carousel ride!

Another day, we stopped off at the Children's Museum. This place ROCKED! They gave the kids fake ATM cards so they could deposit and cash out money. They had different stores set up so the kids would go in the store and work and then get paid. It was really neat!

We also managed to go to NASA. B loved the "rocket". She did get tired on the tram ride to tour the facility, but she sure woke up enough to play in their huge play area!

One of the last days we were there, J and B went to the science museum and health museum. Miss L stayed with my parents to bring some sunshine to their day. For me, I stayed at my cabin and worked!

Mindy, I'll be praying for your dad's recovery, and for your family as you journey through this with him.

I'm glad you were able to take some time and enjoy some "firsts" with the girls. It's definitely been a journey already. Hopefully you'll get some sleep soon!
